Roehl rarely spoke about the incident at first. Years later, after hearing similar accounts from others, he began sharing his experience more openly. Later descriptions added detail but did not alter the core event.

Don’t whistle in the woods. Don’t follow sounds you can’t explain. If you hear children laughing, make damn sure it’s your cousins, because if it isn’t, you don’t go looking.

Those weren’t ghost stories. They were warnings handed down through generations.
